At the February meeting the following issues were discussed :
1. Sewerage Improvement Scheme. Mr MacLeod, Customer Services Manager for NOSWA, has agreed to attend our next meeting to clarify NOSWA's position regarding the Gairloch scheme. Some time was spent on identifying issues to be raised at the meeting.
2. Environmental Grant Scheme. The sub-committee would meet to identify ways in which this grant would be used.Suggestions included : replacing fence posts at Gairloch Pitch & Putt course, tree planting at the Glebe and continued beach-cleaning.
3. Local Transport. Two members are to meet with the Project Co-ordinator for Gairloch Community Care Forum to discuss ideas for setting up a voluntary taxi scheme.
4. Grass Cutting Bill has been in contact with Jim Hislop (Highland Council) to identify areas of grass to be cut.
5. We completed two questionnaires, one relating to future services to be provided by Libraries, and one for the Association of Scottish Commmunity Councils relating to the current and future role of Community Councils in Scotland.
6. In response to our letter to Culture and leisure Services supporting Gairloach/Aultbea FC and Poolewe Swimming Pool in their bids for extra funding, we received a positive reply indicating that the situations of both organisations would be reviewed.
7. Local Health Council. members representing the West are due to resign and it is vital that our views and interest should continue to be represented. Applications are now being sought form anyone who may be interested in fulfilling the role of public representation for the locality in it's health planning. 8. Draw for Volunteers for Army Exercise Thanks to all those who expressed an interest. The lucky winners are : Christopher Ross, Zoe Adams and Roddy Tippett. Lucy Davidson, Mary-Dawn MacDonald, Katy-Ann Gallagher, Katy-Anne and Angela Macleod. We hope you all have an enjoyable experience.
